Dr. Elariny is the first
surgeon to perform Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass for morbid obesity in the Greater Washington, DC Metropolitan, Northern Virginia, and Southern Maryland Areas. Dr. Elariny has an excellent success rate in terms of patient outcome and satisfaction.
Procedures are done
laparoscopically, with the fewest incisions safely possible.

completed his Bachelor of

in June 1981. He completed
his Doctorate in Medicine in
May 1991 at Loma Linda
University School of
Medicine, Loma Linda, CA .
After an Internship in
General Surgery at San
Joaquin General Hospital,
Stockton, CA and further
training at Harbor/UCLA
Medical Center, Torrance, CA
he was accepted at and
became chief resident at New
York Methodist Hospital,
Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Chan
Practiced Bariatric and
General Surgery in Florida
and Louisiana for three
years, then attended and
completed a one year
fellowship in Laparoscopic
and Bariatric Surgery at
Northern Virginia Community
Hospital and Fairfax
Hospital with Dr. Elariny,
2004-2005. He joined
Advanced Laparoscopic and
General Surgery Associates
in 2005 and now has a
combined laparoscopic and
bariatric experience of over
350 procedures. He is
an approved Inamed Lap-Band
(R) surgeon. He is board
certified by The American
Board of Surgery.

received her masters degree

University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill. She earned
her undergraduate degree in
Nutrition at East Carolina
University. She has 10 years
experience in nutrition and
management. She currently
provides full time dietary
consultative services at
USWLS. You can meet with her
at support group meetings
and during your nutrition
counseling sessions.

Alex Soliman |

Alex
received a Bachelor of
Science in Microbiology from
the University of Washington
State in 1976. In 1980 she
completed a Bachelor of
Science in Nursing from
University of Washington.
Alex is the Case Manager for
USWLS. She coordinates
clinical and insurance
issues and coordinates
patients ready for surgery
with the different surgeons'
schedules.

Carissa
Greene, MPA, PA-C |
|
Carissa is
a certified physician
assistant. She attended
Duquesne University in
Pittsburgh, PA and received
her Bachelors of Science and
Masters in Physician
Assistant. She graduated in
August 2002. She practiced
in Internal Medicine for two
and a half years. She
recently moved to the
Northern Virginia area and
has been working with ALAGSA
since May 2005. By carefully
obtaining a history and
physical exam on all
patients, she is integral in
assuring that appropriate
pre-operative and
post-operative care is
delivered. Follow-up
care helps keep patients
healthy & informed.
Carissa also performs
Lap-Band adjustments in the
office and makes rounds at
the hospitals for
inpatients. She assists in
surgery from time to time.

Dr.
Ahmed Elariny, PhD, P.E. |

Dr. Elariny, Sr. takes care of many of the practice's accounting and billing responsibilities.
He has a doctorate in engineering, so if you have questions about fluid dynamics or need help with relativity, he's happy to help. He has recently retired and is now assisting with the day-to-day business tasks involved in running ALAGSA.
